Among the many things that come with Valentine’s Day, Cupid is also included. The lovely cherub that’s displayed on almost all Valentine’s Day cards has its roots in Greek mythology. But how happened? Why we associated Cupid with Valentine’s Day?
According to Time, it all begins in 700 B.C., when the Greek god of love, Eros, used his power to make people fall madly and deeply in love. After a few centuries, Romans adopted Eros in their culture, but with a different name and a totally different appearance, converting Eros into a cute boy with a bow and an arrow in his hands, namely Cupid.
Now it’s pretty obvious why Cupid is associated with Valentine’s Day…
