Who could say that Clint Eastwood saved their lives? Well, Steve John can. In 2018, when Eastwood was 83 years old, John organized a golf tournament in California when he choked on a piece of cheese.

Eastwood rushed over and performed the Heimlich maneuver, lifting the CEO in the air three times before the cheese was dislodged from his throat.

You never know when it can come in handy, so learning the maneuver is crucial!

While in St. Lucia in 2009, Amy Winehouse was enjoying a lovely day on the beach when disaster struck. Louise Williams was taking a sailing lesson when she was thrown from the boat and hit a rock. With moments to spare, Winehouse ran all the way over from the beach and saved her from drowning before the woman got swept away by the tide.

A lot of controversies surrounded Winehouse at the time, but during an interview, Williams said that “she went out of her way to help me … It shows there’s another side to her,” noting how she was awestruck by her kindness.

In 2009, Demi Moore was scrolling through her Twitter when she noticed a woman posted her intent to take her life. She replied with “Hope you are joking,” which prompted thousands of her followers to jump in and try to help.

Users eventually managed to track down the post to a 48-year-old woman and alerted the San Jose Police Department who found her unharmed but in need of help.

All it took was a few seconds of her time in order for Moore to save a woman’s life!
