Books
This Amazon purchase is really tricky… Because the truth is that Amazon has better deals on books than anywhere else, and it might be pretty awesome for most of us, but what happens to independent bookstores? Buying books from Amazon comes at a cost for most of them.
According to a retail data analysis blog, at the end of 2019, Amazon had more than 50 percent of the U.S. print book market and, according to the same data, “at least three quarters” of publishers’ ebook sales. Even big bookstore chains are forced to close.
So, although you’re probably getting a good deal buying books from Amazon, independent bookstores are suffering.
