Although Christmas is a Christian festival marking the birth of Jesus, it coincides with the pagan celebrations around the Winter Solstice and many of the traditions we still do every year conflate the two.
The custom of bringing a tree into the house was widely practised across northern Europe and Scandinavia. With Victoria’s Germanic roots and German husband, the Tannenbaum or Christmas Tree had long been the center of the royal Christmas and it became a huge trend across the nation.
