Gas range burners
One of the most common mistakes that people always make is to clean the gas range burners with water. Cleaning the gas range burners with water can cause damage over time and you should replace the gas cooker when they won’t work anymore.
“Don’t clean the burners on your gas range with water. The igniters on your gas range are very sensitive to water,” says Smith. “If they get wet they will not turn off when the range is activated and your range will click over and over again as the igniter keeps going off.”
“As a result, never spray a cleaning product directly into your gas range burners. Spray the cleaning cloth then wipe down the surface,” Smith added.

Thank you SO much for this information!! I’ve been cleaning some things ALL wrong, but now I know!! Just the other day, we had trouble with our stove
burner not working. But guess what??? I had cleaned it with water!!! No more!
Learned the same lesson. 🙂
Very informative and practical. Merci beaucoup.
I am a silk dying artist. I use water all the time to clean silk items. The key is total immersion. You are right though that spot cleaning will leave water stains. Silk fibers are just about the strongest out there short of kevlar. I wash silk clothing in the washing machine and dry on delicate cycle. Heavier silk clothing though does better with dry cleaning.
