The golden hour
“This remains one of my all-time favorite images, and was taken in the very last minutes of a long, otherwise uneventful chase day. In this single photograph, there is lightning, with a setting sun, the spectacular inflow tail of a supercell, and a field of wheat in the foreground. It is one thing to photograph a scene like this, and quite another to come upon it down a long road and see it get closer through a van’s windshield.” —Supercell at Sunset (Haviland, Kansas).
