As you probably know, standing water is the prime breeding ground for mosquitoes. So, things like buckets, inflatable kiddie pools and empty plant containers are pretty dangerous for your health, since mosquitoes can carry Zika virus, West Nile virus, Chikungunya virus, dengue, and malaria.
Seth Hillenmeyer, a multi-franchise owner of Weed Man and Mosquito Authority, says just one inch of water can breed up to 1,000 mosquitoes. That’s why you should avoid leaving these items outdoors—and if you do, get rid of the water immediately before storing them in your home.
