8. Firewood
If you store firewood directly on the ground, the wood will absorb moisture from the soil leaving it damp and useless to start that cozy fire you had in mind. What’s more, firewood tends to stick to the ground and take pieces of your lawn with it when you bring it inside.
So that’s why you should stack firewood on concrete, asphalt or a tarp outside at least five feet from other structures. If your firewood is already damp, place it in a sheltered area such as a pallet shed in order to get some sun.
