WOOL

Most of us have obviously chewed gum at some point in our lives. In fact, chewing gum pops up in a lot of our childhood memories. Who can forget the bubble gum contests we would get into with our friends to see who can blow that colossal bubble? And then, of course, popping said bubble on someone’s face! If you have, you should know that you have chewed a crucial element to wool.

Can you imagine as a child being told that you are actually munching on secretion from sheep’s wool? For sheep, lanolin is excellent because it protects its wool from getting wet. We probably do not want to know about the material that gives gum its chewy thickness.

Lanolin is also one of the critical components of lip balms, so you may want to rethink the “smells so good, I want to eat it!” expression.
