5 Things Seriously Wrong With Walmart

3. Child labor

One of the most severe judgments that Walmart has ever received was the fact that they were accused of child labor. For example, in 2003, there was a federal examination that disclosed that some of the store managers and executives from the brand knew the fact that their cleaning services used undocumented people from places such as Asia, Mexico, and Eastern Europe.

In 2004, an identical investigation revealed that Walmart did other bad things as well, such as violating some labor rules. For instance, they compelled minor children to work more hours than they were allowed by law.

Besides that, they also made the kids work late at night and during school hours. These children also had their breaks and lunchtime taken away by the company.

4. They use the “predatory pricing” technique

Predatory pricing is the name of the technique of deliberately selling the products at a very low price, which means that the competitors will soon go out of business.

Even though there is nothing wrong with commercializing products at low costs, this tactic is not very ethical. It is believed that Walmart uses this technique until its competitors are out of business and they raise the prices up again once they reach their goals.

5. They are against unions

A few years ago, the Internet activist group Anonymous exposed a private PowerPoint presentation of the company, in which they discussed all the reasons why unions were not good for clerks.

The managers claimed that these unions only care about the workers’ money and they don’t have any concerns in actually looking after their rights.

…What do you think about this company?

  1. They screwed me out of $16.20 once so I don’t shop there anymore. I still have the receipt that says they owe me but they claim that I was given another receipt as well. I never received the one they are claiming and they said they have me on video receiving this paper but I don’t know what they are talking about. I complained to every manager plus their online customer service to no avail.
