Former director of information services for the National Crime Prevention Council, Leonard A. Sipes, Jr., says that the vast majority of burglaries occur because people leave their doors unlocked. As a matter of fact, the Bureau of Justice says that burglars tend to opt for properties with unlocked doors and windows more often.
