On November 18th, 1978, over 900 people commited suicide simultaneously in the Jonestown settlement of Guyana. They were all members of the People’s Temple, a religious organization led by Reverend Jim Jones. During that night, the 909 people swallowed cyanide. Those who refused to do it were shot down because they tried to scape.
