11. Paper plates
This growing American trend is, quite frankly disturbing. How many households opt for paper plates in favor of actual plates in order to avoid washing the dishes? But, trust us, budgeting for disposable dinnerware every month or week is worse than spending a few minutes washing up.
The truth is, the issue may be deeper than it looks at first glance, and you might benefit by making clean-up duty a family activity. Listen to music together, talk about your days after every meal, and, most importantly, assign a task to everyone, from cleaning the table to washing and drying the dishes.
There’s no reason why just one person has to handle it all!
12. Class rings
Fewer things in life are more useless than a class ring. For upwards of hundreds of dollars, a graduate will get a bit of gold and a glass gem, topped with the joy of being a part of an ever-growing trend.
These are forgotten down the line, typically within a few months. High school graduates will focus on collage rather than their new jewelry and, a few years down the line, they won’t even know which box they stuffed the ring – and that’s IF it ever comes up in conversation ever again.
You’re better off suggesting a different way to commemorate their achievements such as a day trip or a dinner with their friends. Better yet, the money can go towards a new laptop or a new car, two investments that will help them in their next stage in life.
Are you guilty of buying any of these things? Which ones do you regret the most? Comment down below!

my wife insists on buying paper plates AND plastic water bottles
I cannot get her to see the folly of this.
It saves time washing dishes
which I hate with a passion.
