12. You pay no attention to cracked caulk
In most American households (if not all of them), caulk is the first barrier that keeps water where it belongs… in the shower or down the drain, not in between. However, once in a while, you should replace it, especially when it starts to look bad.
Cracked caulk doesn’t do its job as it should, and if you neglect it, it’s also the perfect place for the bacteria to grow (mold and mildew included). In other words, if you want to spare a big chunk of money on bathroom tile and structural damage, replace caulk as soon as it looks bad.
