Tide Pods

This one took the nation by a storm, so much so that not only did it get widespread media attention, but the detergent companies had to issue statements to warn people about the dangers of this challenge. Even the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had to get involved! We still cannot believe that teenagers daring other teenagers to eat Tide Pods ended up being a thing, but it truly did, everyone on the internet was getting involved.

You surely remember this one, we do not have to explain it to you with how many news outlets talked about it at the time. Yet, we cannot believe the repercussion that this all had. Procter & Gamble, the ones who are in charge of Tide, have had to go back to selling opaque packaging in order to minimize the attention the pods got, and people even dared to suggest that they should stop making such colorful detergents. Maybe they should have taught their kid not to eat washing liquid instead!

Salt challenge?

This challenge was so similar to the cinnamon one, that we did not think that people would actually get around to doing it. But it was actually kind of a challenge that gained traction among kids. They would record themselves pouring an insane amount of salt in their mouth only to spit it out almost immediately. They end up coughing, gagging, and even vomiting, both from the fact that their mouth was insanely dry, but also from the amount of salt they had voluntarily ingested that they could not spit out.

You would think that they would remember that inhaling cinnamon could cause breathing difficulties, lead to throat infections, and even pneumonia. What they seemed to bypass was that it also applied to salt. In their haste to just try the newest challenge on the internet for a few clicks and likes, they’re forgetting about the fact that inhaling salt can be dangerous.

The new hair gel: Glue

Have you ever felt like none of the hair gel, mousse, or pomade you use holds your hair in place properly? This is what one woman thought when she did not have any hair spray left, so she came up with a clever replacement for it and decided to announce to the entirety of Instagram that it was not her brightest idea. She decided to use Gorilla Glue to hold her braided ponytail in place and then was surprised when it didn’t come off.

She claims it was stuck like that for a month already and that not even washing her hair 15 times helped get the glue out of her hair. Taking into consideration just how powerful of an adhesive Gorilla Glue actually is, we think she should have expected that. In the end, she had to undergo a 4-hour procedure to get the glue surgically removed from her hair, after rubbing alcohol landed her in the ER.
