The first Christmas card was actually sent in England by the founder of a British museum

According to the Victoria & Albert Museum, the institution’s founding director, Henry Cole, sent the first known Christmas greeting card, which included a drawing of a family gathering and the words “a merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you” in 1843.
