Most pairs of jeans will have seemingly useless silver buttons on the seam of the pockets. These often give the garments a little bit of extra flair, but that wasn’t their intended purpose!
Known as rivets, these pieces of metal help prevent the denim from wearing out. With the added support, the seam will not rip in case of an accident or overstretching.
Since these days jeans are affordable and come in many shapes, colors and designs, waiting for them to wear out entirely before buying a new pair isn’t so popular. So these rivets may not even be needed. In fact, some jeans may have removed them completely!
