The only danger in opening mail from a mysterious sender in the 1970s was the possibility of getting a chain letter. But unless you were especially superstitious, you could usually ignore those. Still, in the ’70s, we would never open a letter and find out later, “Oh no! My house is infected with a virus now!” Ah, the glory days.
