The 10 World’s Haunted Hotels That Will Keep You Up All Night

Ross Castle, County Meath, Ireland

Built in 1533 by ill-tempered English nobleman Richard Nugent, the 12th Baron of Delvin or the Black Baron as he was known, this castle has a tragic history. The baron forbade his daughter Sabina’s love affair with Orwin, the son of an Irish Chieftain. When they tried to elope, Orwin drowned in Lough Sheelin and Sabina locked herself in the tower and starved to death.

Stay in the beautiful boudoir of the tragic Sabina or reside in the Black Baron’s room in the original tower instead. Either way you’re likely to have interesting company: they’re both said to haunt this creepy (but comfortable) castle which looms above the lough.
