Crediting his entrepreneurial spirit to his time in the Peace Corps, saying “Once you have hitchhiked across Africa with ten bucks in your pocket, starting a business doesn’t seem too intimidating”, the chairman and CEO of Netflix turned the DVD mailing service he co-founded with Marc Randolph in 1997 into a phenomenal success and leader in the streaming service marketplace.
When Netflix launched a service in 2007 to stream movies and television to computers, it would give birth to ‘binge-watching’. Since premiering their first original series, House of Cards, in 2013, the company has gone from strength to strength, even winning an Oscar for the Netflix Original Movie Roma in 2019.
Hastings is worth around $3.6 billion
