Brian Chesky
Who would have thought that renting out a room in your apartment to cover the cost of rent would turn into an idea worth $38 billion? Well, that’s precisely what happened with Brian Chesky who would go on to co-found and become the CEO of the peer to peer lodging service Airbnb.
In its first year of operation, it didn’t waste any time and was already opening offices across Europe. Two major sporting events would really put Airbnb on the map, the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, when hundreds of thousands of sports fans would use the service. By March 2015, Chesky’s company was valued at $20 billion.
Chesky is worth around $3.7 billion
