Stan Lee
It may come as a surprise, but prolific comic book creator Stan Lee, the man largely responsible for the entire Marvel Comics universe, didn’t produce his first “Fantastic Four” comic until he was 38 years old.
First, he spent more than 10 years mostly failing and coming close to quitting. “Stan Lee was ready to give up on writing comic books in 1960—after 20 years in the business—when his wife, famously, urged him to try writing one that he would like,” wrote Brian Lowry for CNN. “The result was Fantastic Four.”
