Idle No More

In reaction to a proposed law that would limit their authority, several Canadian Aboriginal groups organized a movement to encourage their communities to take action.

The movement was led by four Saskatchewan women, but quickly spread throughout the country, increasing awareness of the effects of colonialism on Indigenous peoples. In 2013, Attawapiskat reserve band chief Theresa Spence went on a hunger strike that left a lasting impression.
