Pull-tab cans
Canned drinks are a super convenient (and tasty) way to quench someone’s thirst, but it wasn’t as easy as it is today to open them. In fact, opening cans was way different back then. You actually needed a can opener which basically punched a hole in the form of a triangle to open the can.
In 1959, Ermal Cleon Fraze, a famous engineer, came up with a solution: the pull-tab opener. According to a report, the idea came after he was forced to use a car bumper in order to open a can of beer. Luckily, canned drinks have changed, minimizing the chances of a choking hazard for drinkers.
