3. Hacker

No, we are not referring to what the word ‘hacker’ means today but the woodcutters. Back in the day, hackers were men with axes in their hands, not laptops. Just like everything else listed here, this occupation went down the drain due to technology.

4. Linotype Operator

If the job as a ‘hacker’ was pretty confusing, how about ‘linotype operator’? In the late 1880s, the Linotype machine was used to print and produce daily newspapers. It was basically a metal typesetting system that allowed the operator to create the newspaper.

However, the phototypesetting appeared in the early 1960s, and the job as a linotype operator turned to dust.
