Apart from the reverse engineering of crashed alien spacecraft and the storing of aliens (dead or alive), the many hypotheses concerning the base range from a public surveillance hub to a weather control station, a place where exotic weapons, equipment and propulsion systems are developed, to a time travel and teleportation technology center.
Whatever the answer may be, as the government are continuing to keep those cards close to their chests, the aura of mystery and intrigue that surrounds this facility in the Nevada Desert will long fascinate the conspiracy theories and the wider public for years to come. Who knows, one day we may get the truth, after all, according to the X-Files, the truth is most definitely out there.
