Blowing dust brought on by drought and soot blown in from California’s many forest fires are some of the challenges that Central Valley metro areas like Hanford and Corcoran face when it comes to air quality.

To help fight emissions, the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, which includes parts of California’s Central Valley, has enacted regulations on residential burning of wood for heat, encouraging people to upgrade to pellet stoves or natural gas.
