According to the National Resources Defense Council, Chicago’s West and South Side neighborhoods, which are primarily minority areas, are the most heavily exposed to air pollution in the city.

Activists claim that city planners are pushing dirty industries to minority communities, while more affluent neighborhoods are developing condo buildings and high-end amenities instead of old industries.
