Celebrity culture has always been bizarre, we all have to admit it- even before social media became the behemoth it is today. But recently? It’s become weirder and weirder and weirder.
Not too long ago certain people in the public eye were careful about expressing their beliefs out of fear of backlash, losing their following and ruining their carefully crafted public persona. Nowadays, more and more celebrities advertise their beliefs willingly, no matter how outlandish they may sound, anytime, and anywhere.
This phenomenon has become so prevalent that if Justin Timberlake suggested that mermaids are real and their favorite summer holiday destination was the Mediterranean sea… would we really be surprised? We’d probably roll our eyes or start pestering him for more details.
