5 Unusual Workplace Rules That Make No Sense

4. Move the desk an inch and you’re in trouble

Some people are very particular about how things are arranged. It happens to the best of us, but this rule may just take the cake. This company has a rule specifically made about how their desks are arranged. You cannot move the furniture around, not even a little bit.

Much like the ridiculous chair rule, this one follows in the same pattern, but with some addendums. If you do need the furniture moved, you have to either ask for permission from the higher-ups or get a moving company down to do it for you(at your expense at that). It sounds like it is a rule straight out of a cartoon with how weird it is, but it is not.

5. Everything you own remains outside

By far the most nonsensical rule is one that is enforced in the Amazon warehouses. The gigantic retailer has a rule that bans their employees from bringing in any item that can be found in their inventory. With how many things they sell, it would be easier to make a list of the things they do not!

The reason for it is to prevent loss and the company sticks to its strict policy. This means that employees have to leave their phones in their cars, take their watches off, the only beverage they are allowed to drink is water, no other soft drink of any kind, they cannot even chew gum. It sounds quite draconian, but what could you expect from a company that has these rules because they think that you are probably stealing from the warehouse?
