Half Belt On Jackets
Ever noticed that half belt on the back of yours or someone else’s jacket? It’s called a martingale, and while it does look incredibly fashionable, its origins have nothing to do with looking stylish.
It was first developed for men in the military, particularly those who had oversized jackets that could be used as blankets as well, in order to secure the extra material. Obviously, they’re not used for the same purposes today, but we have to say that they certainly give jackets a more fashionable look, so we’re glad they’ve stayed.
