11. Hats
A second-hand hat could carry allergens, lice, or other pretty harmful infections. Like underwear and shoes, you don’t know the person who wore them before you, so it’s not worth taking any risks. Plus, cleaning and sanitizing it properly could most likely damage it. Just buy a new hat instead.
12. Linens
Used towels, blankets, sheets, and other linens could be contaminated with germs. And yes, you can wash them in hot water, but that doesn’t guarantee you full decontamination. Don’t buy bedding or other cloth items from a thrift store; they may be cheaper, but they could harm your health.
