When compared to all the inventions listed here, the Internet is probably the most influential invention in the history of not only our country, but the world. Paying bills, searching pieces of information on a certain matter, making financial transactions, talking with friends (or strangers) through social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
The Internet was invented by Internet Protocol Suite of the National Science Foundation (U.S. government) in 1983 and by 1990, they managed to establish the World Wide Web.
