ANTIFREEZE
The dictionary tells us that antifreeze is “a substance added to a liquid to lower its freezing point.” What it does not tell you is that you might be eating it! Well, technically, you may be consuming propylene glycol.
According to the FDA, it is grouped in the GRAS (generally regarded as safe) category. It would be classified as toxic only if consumed in a high dosage intravenously. You might find propylene glycol in baked goods, candy, prepared foods, but also in cosmetic and personal care products.
Also, in the Fireball Whiskey you may enjoy, the actual alcohol is probably more toxic than the propylene glycol itself!
