HUMAN HAIR
The most common additive in bread is E920, AKA L-Cysteine. Again, this is one situation where you slide past that little number and continue eating your Burger King burger in peace if you are not informed.
L-Cysteine is actually an amino acid that gets withdrawn from the chemical stew of scraps of barbershop hair, mainly in China, that is dumped into vats of hydrochloric acid.
While most fast-food chains have declared that their L-Cysteine comes from duck feathers, commercial bread manufacturers cannot say the same.
So, if you would like your bread hair-free, you might want to buy from your local baker instead.
