Russia sold The Last Frontier to us for 2 cents per acre
I think taking advantage of bargains is actually in our blood… The Last Frontier, namely Alaska, is by far the biggest state in our great country and we can brag about purchasing it at only $7.2 million total.
We should be really proud because, in about 50 years after the purchase, we were able to take our money back more than 100 times over. Alaska’s gold is well-known nowadays, and, it appears that Russians didn’t know about it when they sold Alaska to the United States.
Plus… how can we forget about salmon?! 🙂
