5. Scented trash bags
If you’re looking for ways to freshen up the air around your trash, getting scented bags is not the answer. These are usually overpowering, imbued with a plethora of artificial scents that don’t get rid of the smell of trash but try to overpower it.
In the end, you’ll have a less-than-delightful mixture of scents. You’ll feel sharp, sweet scents while the undertones will be rancid. Does that sound like a pleasant combination? No, we didn’t think so.
If you want to get rid of bad odors, buy regular can liners. Also, fill a disposable coffee filter with baking soda and tie it up (with dental floss, or you can just twist it). If you put this DIY contraption at the bottom of your trash can, it will absorb all of those bad smells for weeks!
6. Mr. Clean Magic Erasers
If you’ve ever tried the M.r Clean Magic Erasers then it might sound insane to go without them. They’re truly magical, wiping away dirt with a few gentle swipes. But they’re also great at making your money disappear at $6.99 for a box of nine…
Did you know there are generic versions out there, too? Look for other melamine sponges on Amazon or even your local dollar store for a fraction of the price and don’t waste money on the brand-name, it’s simply not worth it!

my wife insists on buying paper plates AND plastic water bottles
I cannot get her to see the folly of this.
It saves time washing dishes
which I hate with a passion.
