6. Antique crystal
We know… they look majestic, and you don’t find them these days as mush as you used to. But do you know why? Because antique crystal vessels were made following pretty outdated standards. According to The Washington Post, this means that most antique crystal vessels could contain more than 30 percent lead oxide, a harmful chemical that could lead to abdominal pain.
Don’t purchase old crystal vessels… They could contaminate the foods and drinks you’re about to eat and drink. If you’re a collector, a lead test kit could help you determine your crystal glasses’ level of safety. Still, it’s best to avoid them entirely. The same goes for cheaply made utensils.
