While now COVID-19 vaccines are a hot subject of discussion, we should remember (and be grateful for) that 50 years ago, Maurice Hilleman developed the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine. And yes, separate vaccines were already available, but it wasn’t until 1971 when a combination of the three was discovered.

Greenpeace

The official founding time of Greenpeace is 1971, but the group of environmental activists launched the “Don’t Make a Wave Committee” first two years before. The main idea of Greenpeace was to sail to Alaska’s Amchitka Island in order to disrupt U.S. nuclear tests there. Well…they did just that, and now, after 50 years, Greenpeace has over 2.8 million members worldwide in more than 50 countries.
