Dave Chappelle
This actor and stand-up comedian wanted to escape fame so bad that he ended up moving to South Africa with his family in 2005 to get away from being a celebrity. When doing so, he left everyone shocked, seeing as he was at the height of a very successful career and in the third season of Chappelle’s Show.
For years he chose to ignore any questions on the matter until he emerged in 2014 on the Late Show With David Letterman and stated that even though friends praised him for having integrity, it was hard to feed his kids integrity sandwiches.
Chappelle said that in the end, he was able to finally find balance in his life by doing what he truly likes/enjoys and avoid some of the parts of it that he was uncomfortable with. Chappelle noted that he has good and strong relationships with his kids and was able to engage with others differently. He was finally able to rest, to appreciate his life and the places and people around him.
