Jollof rice: Nigeria vs. Ghana
Commonly referred to simply as Jollof, jollof rice is yet another widely contested dish. It’s seen as a Nigerian dish, but that hasn’t stopped several other Western African countries from claiming it as their own.
A massive blow to Nigeria’s ego was a poll by the Guardian. Readers actually thought the dish was from Ghana, followed by Senegal, Nigeria, Botswana, and Cameroon. Ouch!
But no matter what, this rice dish mixed with onions, chilies and tomatoes is undoubtedly delicious! Now, there’s another argument to consider- really, Jollof is swaddled in controversy! Should you eat it with vegetables, seafood or meat? Depending on who you ask, you’ll get widely different answers.
