1. Some dollar store items may have shady labels.

According to Consumer Reports, many dollar store electronics don’t have a UL label (UL comes from Underwriters Laboratories, which is basically a top safety certification company in our country). When a product lacks a UL label, it means that it doesn’t meet the safety standards.

What’s even worse, some of the dollar store electronics may have fake labels. It’s best to stay away from dollar stores electronics. You may buy them broken, or they could catch on fire. (Imagine plugging your brand-new laptop in a shady power strip… You don’t want to take any risks.)  Always check electronics for UL labels before buying them.
