5. Some dollar store items may contain certain toxins.
There’s virtually no surprise that many dollar store items are cheaply made, but what if we’d told you that some of them might also be toxic? Because manufactures use really cheap materials, some items may contain hidden toxins.
A couple of years ago, a study discovered that from 164 dollar store items, more than 80 percent contained at least one toxin that’s most likely unpronounceable. In fact, some dollar store products even had diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP), a chemical that has been banned in children’s toys due to health concerns.
And we are not only referring to toys. Canned goods may also contain Bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical that has been associated with infertility and various health issues.
