Rod Stewart
Another UK musical legend that seems to have a hobby that goes against his supposed rock star lifestyle is the raspy-voiced Rod Stewart. While he asked his adoring fans in his 1978 classic “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?”, the answer might have been a resounding NO when they discovered how the 76-year-old rocker spends his spare time….. building model railways.
While we may be using the term ‘ hobby’, Stewart himself would likely admit it’s a bit of an obsession, so much so, that when he was on tour he would book a second hotel room solely for his beloved trains. He even made a film about the 100-foot model railway (a 1:87 scale model of New York’s Grand Central Station) he had built in his Los Angeles home. He even once admitted that being featured as the cover story in four issues of Model Railroader magazine meant more to him than appearing on the cover of any music magazine.
