Once you learn that the nickname for the devoted fanbase of the singer Beyoncé is known as ‘The Beyhive’, the 39-year-old musician’s hobby of making honey might not come as much of a surprise. Apart from the fact she has admitted the reason she started keeping bees was not to pay homage to the moniker of her most ardent fans, but for the sake of her two daughters.
And Beyoncé really does take this pass time very seriously, as noted in a British Vogue cover interview in December 2020. The multi-talented star explained that she has had two beehives housing around 80,000 bees at her home for quite some time now and makes hundreds of jars of honey a year. And while this might seem like a strange hobby for the Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter, she has rather pragmatic reasons for doing so, explaining that her two daughters, Blue and Rumi, both have terrible allergies, and honey has countless healing properties.
