Castor Beans
Only in temperate and tropical climates can you find the castor bean plant (Ricinus communis), a medium height, herb-like plant that contains one of the most lethal natural toxins in the world and one that has been used as a biological weapon, ricin. Although the plant itself is used for the production of the harmless and beneficial castor oil, the beans are were the real terror lies as it only takes less than two milligrams to kill an adult human.
The brown beans of the plant can be used in more than one way to kill you, depending of the delivery system. The pulp of the bean can be dried and turned into powder form which the intended victim can inhale, drink or (mixed with another liquid) be injected by. If eaten or drank, it can cause severe gastrointestinal inflammation, abdominal pain, vomiting, and bloody diarrhea which results in extreme dehydration, decreased blood pressure, and decreased urine production.
If you were to inhale the dried powder form, the resulting bloody cough quickly becomes a pulmonary edema leading to inevitable respiratory failure or cardiac arrest. Should you be injected, you’ll quickly start vomiting, have flu-like symptoms, swelling at the point of injection and eventually a painful death as all of your organs begin to catastrophically fail and death quickly follows.
