‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’
The American musical fantasy film directed by Mel Stuart, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, appeared in 1971, namely 50 years ago. Starring Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka, the movie’s potential wasn’t recognized immediately as some would think, maybe because everything was cut in half (including the budget, not just Wonka’s office decor).
The Nike Swoosh
Although Nike was actually founded in the ’60s, its iconic logo came several years later (1917). Carolyn Davidson, a graphic design student, sold the swoosh to Phil Knight (Nike founder), and by June 18, 1971, the iconic logo was registered with the U.S. Patent Office. Carolyn Davidson did a great job for only $35! Well, considering Nike’s annual sales, that’s definitely a great deal.
