Lenticular Clouds

Lenticular, from the Latin lenticularis (lentil-shaped), clouds are stationary clouds that form mostly in the troposphere and take on a strange lens or disc like shape.

These cloud formations mostly develop among the crests and valleys of mountainous terrain and some believe that they can account for many UFO sightings as they take on the classic saucer shape.
