When the pandemic started, health professionals cautioned the public from buying excessive amounts of masks in order to avoid a shortage among public health care workers. It’s unlikely that wearing a mask in public will keep you from catching the contagion, but it does more likely keep the virus from spreading if you test positive for COVID-19.

“The CDC group is looking at that very carefully,” Fauci told CNN’s Jim Sciutto. “The thing that has inhibited that a bit is to make sure we don’t take away the supply of masks from the health care workers who need them,” Fauci said.

“But once we get in a situation where we have enough masks, I believe there will be some very serious consideration about more broadening this recommendation of using masks. We’re not there yet, but I think we’re close to coming to some determination.”

  1. I have a question for Dr Fauci. Some young people in my family who have never had children, but plan to, are afraid that the vaccine will change their Dna in a way that will affect their ofspring or future generations. Can you tell me why they are wrong? Why that will not happen.
