Did you know that Burger Chef founders’ primary goal wasn’t actually to sell burgers? Despite the name, they wanted to showcase the milkshake machines, and broilers the restaurant equipment company made. However, their primary goal was set aside after they noticed that “Burger Chef” started gaining popularity.

The founders, brothers David and Frank Thomas Jr., agreed on giving Burger Chef a try. In approximately 10 years or so, they opened more than 500 stores across the U.S. Burger Chef was the first restaurant chain in our country to introduce a kid’s meal. (Yep, it wasn’t McDonald’s…)
